Twitter

A few months ago I started an account on Twitter. It is not a personal account, but instead is for the Oakland University Center for Biomedical Research, which I direct. If you are interested, the Twitter handle is @OaklandUniv_CBR. Most of my tweets are useful for faculty and students at OU: announcing seminars, congratulating principal investigators for their new grants, highlighting accomplishments of students, and that sort of thing. However, I follow a lot of accounts that are related to Intermediate Physics for Medicine and Biology. If you are on Twitter, you might like these:

• @stevenstrogatz. Steven Strogatz is a Cornell mathematician and an excellent writer about mathematics. Russ Hobbie and I cite two of his books in IPMB, including Nonlinear Dynamics and Chaos.
• @AldaCenter. Strogatz is good friends with the former M*A*S*H star Alan Alda. Alda was the host of Scientific American Frontiers for 14 years, and is the founder of the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science.
• @ResearchAmerica. Research!America is a lobbying group, but they lobby for medical research. What’s not to like?
• @Neuro_Skeptic. I wrote a blog post about the Neuroskeptic before. Interesting stuff.
• @BillNye. The Science Guy! Of course I follow him.
• @thebakkenmuseum. The only museum I know that focuses on bioelectricity. 
• @thephysicsgirl. Dianna Cowern is The Physics Girl. She produces great Youtube videos about physics, and promotes women in science.
• @youinthelab. Undergrad In The Lab is all about undergraduate research. Students taking a class using IPMB are probably searching for their first research opportunity, and the site is full of good advice.
